Definizione dell'azione sismica (spettri di risposta, spettri a pericolosità uniforme e spettri di progetto), introduzione alla propagazione delle onde in mezzi omogenei ed eterogenei, influenza dello smorzamento e della non-linearità di comportamento del terreno, cenni ad effetti di sito 1D/2D/3D, esempi pratici di analisi di risposta sismica locale per la determinazione dello spettro di progetto specifico per il sito di costruzione.
